Youth Affairs Committee (YAC’s)
The Leinster Branch Youth Activities Committee (YAC’s) was established over 40 years ago to focus its’ attention on running the juvenile events in Leinster. The YAC’s report to the executive committee however they have their own budgets and targets to adhere to. The YAC’s comprises a chairman and a committee of eight, all voluntary. Over the years the YAC’s has been involved in the following competitions: Inter County competition, Schools league and county competitions, Juvenile Leagues and Tournaments. All these competitions have grown significantly over the years and the input from the YAC’s is vital for their continued success.
Another feature of the YAC’s is to develop the talent in Leinster to compete at provincial level representing their province and the way this is achieved is through the Underage Leinster squads where the talent of Leinster badminton get a chance to work with each other and top coaches. The team focus is important in the development of young players and Leinster achieve this by competing in numerous team events at all levels. The provincial teams are now competing in Inter Provincial series, Celtic Challenge, Nottingham, Challenges with English counties. The experience gained from these team events has helped Leinster players improve and go onto represent their country at international underage events.
The YAC’s will continue to promote underage badminton in Leinster and delight in seeing young players at all levels being able to play badminton.
