DDLC Cup Quarter Finals Results To Date:

Good morning everyone,

We hope the weather is not interfering with your play, but always remember to travel safely in this ugly weather!

Please see attached the Cup Quarter Finals results to date. As you can see, we are missing so many results which is a bit worrying, as it looks like all matches are either not being played in a timely manner or your teams captains are not sending in their results in the stated time frame all on match reports.

Please review the attached results and forward your teams missing results as a matter of priority as the Live Cup Semi-Finals Draw is taking place this Friday 19th January at 10pm in Leinsters Terenure Badminton Centre.

The Leinster YONEX Open took place this weekend in The Terenure Badminton Centre .
It was a good high entry with a great mix of Premier Players competing from each province.
The quality and standard of badminton on court was excellent and all those present were treated to great exciting games.

The Semis and Finals took place today with the Finals starting with the Mens Doubles where Danny Magee and Eddie Cousins took on
Stuart Lightbody & Sam McKay , on this occasion, the Stuart and Sam proved too strong for Dan & Eddie and took the Title in 2 games

Next up was the Womens Doubles Final – where the Kate Frost & Moya Ryan played Jennie Magee & Keady Smith. This was a fantastic 3 game tie that Woods Sisters ebbed and flowed across all the games. In the end Kate and Moya came through on top to take this Title.

The Mens and Ladies Singles followed – In the Mens, Mark Brady and Sam McKay put on a great match with power and precision the name of this game, on this occasion Mark won through, then the Ladies followed , a match between Kate Frost and Rachael Woods. This was another 3 game decider with some fantastic long rallies seeing Rachael come out on top in this one.

The last match and one of the most exciting and extremely close fought match was the Mixed Doubles Final where Dan & Jennie Magee faced Ryan Stewart & Keady Smith
This was the pick of the finals and the closest fought – the 1st two games could have gone either way while in the 3rd and final game, Ryan and Keady lead all the way by the odd point till Dan and Jennie tied at 17-17 and then went on to win the Mixed Title and add to their Leinster Autumn Open Mixed Title

Congratulations to all the competitors that took part over the 2 days play and thanks to the many supporters that contributed in making this a great event.

Thanks the Tournament Committee on this event, Aoife Lennon, Siobhan Grehan, who did a great job, and to referee Angus Sheerin and to all the ‘ever present’ Umpires. Thanks also to the bar and catering committee for keeping everyone “well fed and watered” – overall a great Senior Open

Special thanks to Leinster’s Main Sporting Partner Yonex for support of these events.

The Overall Results of the Finals are attached:
