Rathfarnham Parish BC – 75 Years Young
Rathfarnham Parish Badminton Club has been in existence since September 1942. Their Club was inaugurated on Wednesday 30th September 1942 at a meeting held in the Bird Room, Rathfarnham War Memorial Hall with the annual subscription set at 20 shillings per person (what’s a shilling some may say 😊)
That was 75 years ago and year and today Rathfarnham Parish BC is still going strong. They have had many successes over the years in the DDLC competitions and have a strong link both in the local community and the Parish of Rathfarnham.
Rathfarnham BC is a very friendly and competitive club currently based in between two 4 Court Halls – Ballinteer Community Centre, & De La Salle Churchtown, and two 1 Court Halls – Crannagh Road and the War Memorial Hall, Rathfarnham – that's plenty of opportunities to playing badminton.
Yesterday their celebrations started with a Mixed Badminton Tournament in the Terenure Centre - attached are a selection of their presentations photos to winners and runners-up presented by Tommy McGrath and local Rathfarnham TD Colm Brophy.
Later their celebrations continued in the Bar with many new and past members attending the festivities. Breda Connolly, Vice President Badminton Ireland, made a presentation on behalf of Badminton Ireland to Kim McCrave of Rathfarnham PBC for this fantastic achievement
We would like to congratulate Rathfarnham Parish BC for reaching this 75th season and we wish them many more years and continued success.
