Hello, I'm writing to let you know about a high level social badminton tournament happening this Summer in Nottingham. The deadline for signing up and paying £20 deposit is 14th June. All profit goes to the badminton charity Solibad
https://www.solibad.net

Details of tournament:

The venue: David Ross Sports Village (University of Nottinghammain campus)
The dates: 21st-22nd July 9am-5pm each day
Ability is split into 4 divisions which players choose upon their registration:

A: County standard high
B: County standard low/ league player high
C: league player low
D: recreational players

Players may choose a maximum of two disciplines from singles, doubles and mixed.
You may enter as teams but the idea is that everyone is paired with a new random player in the same category as them to maximise socialising and meeting new players.
The tournament is NOT KNOCK OUT. It uses a Swiss ladder system which should mean the same number of games for everyone.
A player entering 2 disciplines can expect 8 matches over the two days.
Each match is two sets first to 21, no setting.

On the Saturday night there is a social, dinner at Squares (a local pub) and then a space themed fancy dress party at Baa-Bar, a very nice local bar/club with the top floor reserved just for us.

The price for this 2 day tournament is £35.
If you wish to attend you must register and pay a £20 deposit online by the 14th June

What is included in the price:
The opportunity to meet players from all over Europe
8 matches
Dinner Saturday night
Prizes for winners in each category
A free shooter at Baa-Bar if you attend the party.

What's not included:
Breakfast/lunch (a rec room is provided for packed lunches to be eaten in or there is a cafe on site).
Shuttles, everyone playing in category C or higher is expected to bring feather shuttles, use of shuttles being used in games should then be shared equally between all participants.
Plastic shuttles are provided for D category.
Travel/accommodation

This tournament used to happen in London but this is the first year it's being run in Nottingham. I've personally been to 10 ISBTs as a participant and they are incredibly fun and a great badminton learning experience. There are already players registered from Ireland, Holland and London who are coming, it would be great to see some ISBT veterans there.

Best wishes

A nice little write up on a small country badminton club . We could do with more reporters exercising their masters degrees and talents on a few more badminton clubs throughout the province.
Well written and a good insight to what goes on in country badminton .
