Paddy had been in bad health for the last few years, none the less, it is a shock to hear of his passing. All through the years he has been a great supporter of both Leinster Badminton and Whitehall Road.

Paddy started his badminton career in the 80s playing with Churchtown Badminton Club. His love of the sport grew and in later years he became a coach. He was involved in the formative years of a number of Irish internationals -Carol Green, Scott Evans, Lee Evans -amongst others.

In 2004 he helped in the set up and was involved in the coaching of the Flying Arrows special Olympics Badminton Club which later became known as the Flying Trojans.

He retired from playing in his late 50’s and continued coaching. Later he became Chairperson of the coaching committee of Leinster Branch.

He was awarded an honorary membership at an AGM in Baldoyle Badminton Centre some years later.

Paddy’s love of the game influenced several family members to get involved at different levels of the sport over the years.  His son Niall  and daughter Ann carry on the great tradition of coaching .Ann is and has been for a number of years a stalwart of  Dublin & district Leagues and Cups Committee.

The sympathies of all who knew Paddy go out to Niall and Ann and the extended family. His contribution to Leinster Badminton will always be remembered  and he will be missed by those who knew him.

May Paddy rest in peace.
